Mabuhay!
EDIT:Due to complications with Makati Shangri-la Hotel, 'Frozen II: Images By Tom Epperson' will be a one-night exhibit only.

Tom EppersonTwo years ago, my husband went to Mongolia for an adventure. He stayed in the Gobi dessert for a whole month. I will no longer go into details as to how he survived the cold (-40˚C to be exact) while he lived among strangers in different gers, ate horse meat, mutton, and yak testicles (not yum), constantly in search of the next destination as he withstood so many other severe yet life-changing situations. If you ask him what the hell he was thinking, he would tell you that he wasn't thinking but had one of the best times in his life!
No, it wasn't a mid-life crisis kind of adventure but more of a creative journey in the name of art and his photography. As an American living in the tropics for over twenty years, my husband wanted to immerse himself in a new environment to challenge his creativity. And boy was Mongolia a different environment! LOL!
Tom shared with me how amazed he was at how hospitable Mongolians were. They took him into their homes (gers), uninvited yet warmly welcomed: Fed and clothed him, gave him directions, and were generally generous and warm towards him. He also enjoyed the deafening silence of the dessert as well as the eerie sound of the ice moving while standing on a frozen lake. There are things that many of us will probably never get to experience but at some level understand.
After 30 days in freezing Mongolia, Tom came home a better man. Physically (15 lbs. lighter — the freezing cold burns calories fast! Hmmm... Maybe we should all go to Mongolia to lose weight! Hahaha!) and emotionally fit with a series of stunning images to boot!
On April 26, he will unveil his show entitled 'Frozen II: Images By Tom Epperson' at The Gallery M, Makati Shangri-la Hotel. It's a series of abstracts which according to Tom, "mother nature created." I hope art collectors/lovers will be able to connect with Tom's work emotionally. We're both excited for everyone to see it!
Of course I will write this with bias. My husband’s work is amazing!

SHOPPINGERO/SHOPPINGERA, if I may borrow Conan O'Brien's tweet, "I don't want to over-hype this thing but attendance will cure all known diseases." ;D
